Branding

The Britney brand is a "guilty pleasure" because it displays our "silly" sexual side. It bares the part we are made to believe is embarrassing. It's a relatively safe way of acknowledging it.

But U2 is just as much of a brand. It merely spotlights a different aspect of ourselves. One we are made to believe is honorable and What We Can Be Proud Of.
